A Handicap Teenagers Cry For Help

When teenagers are suffering from depression or anxiety, on the outside it can seem as though things may be okay. But the truth of the matter is, many teens struggle with emotional issues and need parents or adults to intervene even though they may not seek it.

Recently, a handicapped teenager by the name of Sam was struggling with such issues and never sought therapy or counseling. While his parents noticed some signs of his emotional issues, they thought it would eventually resolve itself which it did not. This young man put out a video and we recently received some feedback from it from our community. Here is what some have to say:

I really feel bad for myself. Whenever I watch the stories of these brave people, I feel that I am really disabled because all the time I am complaining about nothing and depression is suffocating any breath of hope or aspiration in my life.

A seventeen year old teenager on stage telling people to appreciate what you have. I wouldn’t have the courage to express myself like this. All I have to say is “keep moving forward” folks and “don’t waste energy feeling bad for yourself”, Sam Berns said it best.

Having certain disabilities myself has made my life discouraging a lot and this guy has the right idea. A special piece of knowledge I wished I’d known so long ago.”be ok with what u ultimately can’t do, because there is so much you can do” he’s my new hero! It’s too bad he’s now passed on but what ever dimension, life, afterlife he’s in I know his positive energy is still and will always be making a difference.

So heartbreaking that such a handsome, wise young man passed away. Even though he’s gone, he’s still making a difference in the world because of this video. I love how much of a band geek he is. I imagine I’d have a hard time having a conversation with him because I’d just have a blank stare because he seems way smarter than me. This handsome young man should’ve lived to see 20. To graduate college. To get a job. Start a family, if he wanted. It’s nice to know he was happy, though. When I say he should be here today, I don’t feel bad for him. I’m devastated that he didn’t have longer to be brilliant. If there is a heaven, I know he’s there and I hope to meet him eventually. He’ll probably be crowded by fans though.

And I was crying the other day about not having nieces/nephews to give my love & time to, but I think I have it pretty great after watching this. Knowing your going to die shortly and still remaining this positive, yikes. Where I work, 51% of us suffer a disability–some as obvious as coworkers in wheelchairs, blindness, no arms; some as unseen and as stigmatized as Mental Health diseases of the mind, and the other 49% of us have awareness and sensitivity! It makes me wonder where I’d be if my own demons didn’t get the better of me so many times (I’ve had amazing job offers retracted). But watching this inspiring kid makes me promise to not be negative!!! How very Nick Vujicic! Must watch the “life According to Sam” documentary. Sadly he died 1 month after this Ted Talk but his inspiration lives on!! “I see no disease here, I see a dude with a really awesome mentality on life in the face of physical limitations!”

Life can be so unfair. I believe Sam came here and did more in his short life time then most can do in 70 years and so don’t see it as sad see it as a soul fulfilling its journey in this dimension, job done, off to another wonderful place, energy can never be created nor destroyed and he certainly was full of life’s energy.

Loved the talk Sam, if you see this, you don’t need me telling you that the childish people who comment here aren’t worth your reading eyes’ energy. We’re only here for a while and you have a very positive outlook on this life. Keep kicking ass bro!

Kid you’ll never find true happiness or satisfaction in this world. Happiness only last so long, satisfaction lasts even shorter. You’re broken and hurting inside… everyone is. ‘Tis why Jesus Christ died on the cross as an atonement for our sins so that we can be reconciled back to God.

We’ve all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God, even you.

Get saved man. U don’t get “a happy life” or “prosperous” life. You’ll still have trials and persecutions. The only thing you’ll get, is God Himself. There, you will be forever forgiven, loved, cared for, joyful, and ever grateful and satisfied.

I promise. Just call upon the name of Jesus and you’ll be saved. Believe the Gospel and repent of your sins.

Most messed up thing was in 5th grade we were watching a science video and it was in the recommended, most of my classmates were asking what wrong with his face and some even made fun of him. My teacher had us watch it and that made my classmates feel horrible. It broke my heart when I found out he passed away.

To all who says “Sam is an Alien” well I wouldn’t really consider that an insult. This kids as hyper-intelligent and pragmatic as a hyper-intelligent being from a type 3 civilization. He was dealt a hand thats shittier than 99.99% of us yet still lived a greater, happier, and more fulfilling life than nearly 100% of us ever will. So say whatever you want about Sam, but frankly but, I’d wager he lived a better life than what you troglodytes are living right now.

Thank you Sam for giving us words to remember and never wonder about.
I, as do many others, believe and feel that everyone should be treated
equally no matter what their symptoms be. Your voice & kind words
have been spread throughout the entire world and on behalf us all.

Just use the Gifts you got. Should you have two hands, two arms, two legs, a heart, a brain use them. Keep your body fit as Possible. No beer bellies don’t be over weight. Being fit like race horse makes you feel better. Your gut or internal organs produce chemicals that make you feel better. Happy hormone and 3 Main and 4 minor bodily produced ( gut/stomach, and other body internal organs such as your kidneys, maybe your bladder (I not a medical doctor. I did my research as I have Bi-polar).

God loves you all no matter what. He wants you all to lay down every fear, shame, anxiety, doubt, and pain at His feet and take up your new name. God wants you all to live in His freedom, peace, and joy in His Name that He has already given you all, you just need to receive it and live in it in His Name. It’s not about religion, but its about relationship with God. I’m praying for you all. God bless.
