The Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat is part of the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre organization. The organization, consisting of ashrams and yoga centers world-wide, is named after Swami Sivananda, one of the most influential spiritual teachers of the 20th century and founded by his disciple Swami Vishnudevananda. The mission of the organization is to spread peace, health and joy through yoga. All are welcome to come to our ashrams and centers to learn not only about how yoga can help maintain a healthy body but also how yogic philosophy, applied in daily life, can help maintain a peaceful mind and spirit.
The Yoga Retreat is an island paradise with crystal clear water and pure white sands. It is a true sanctuary of peace and natural beauty. It is located across the bay from Nassau on one of the finest beaches of the world. Five and a half acres of tropical paradise await you where you will find a heaven far from the hectic demands of everyday life. The Ashram is built around a semi-closed outdoor meditation temple. There are spacious exercise platforms facing the warm blue green water of the Caribbean. Swaying palms provide shade and shelter. It offers the perfect environment for spiritual studies in the company of like-minded people from around the world.
About the Sivananda Teacher Training Course (TTC)
The TTC began over 40 years ago, is recognized worldwide and has produced more than 27,000 graduates. Swami Vishnudevananda was the first in the West to develop this kind of training program for yoga teachers with the vision to not only develop successful yoga professionals, but also to spread peace in the world through them.
The TTC is a unique, profoundly transforming and personal experience that is based on the ancient gurukula teaching system which integrates the student’s daily life into the yoga training. For four intense weeks of ashram living, students strengthen their own yoga practice through self-discipline and awareness of the nature of mind, body and spirit. They also build a firm foundation from which to teach others instinctually and confidently.
The TTC provides a fantastic opportunity to awaken or deepen your yoga practice, meet old and new friends, and to be a part of the global yoga community which is growing each day. The best part of all is learning that everything we need is already within us and how the practices can lead us into accessing our gifts and beauty from the inside out. The experience provides a great way to find long lasting happiness, peace and the ability to share the yogic lifestyle with others.
Graduates of the course receive internationally recognized certification. Certified by the worldwide Yoga Alliance for the 200 hours standard for Registered Yoga Schools (RYS).
A 500-hour training is available to graduates of the TTC.
