Yoga “Self Discovery”

Did you know that the average person has over 50,000 negative thoughts in our head in a day?  Yep that’s 50,000.  Stop and think, how many times did you say – I can’t, I won’t, I shouldn’t, no, and not.  All of these are negative words.  If you change the way you speak, you can change the way you think.

Freud said we are all born with open minds and as we grow older we close them.

Through the practice of yoga I want to help open the minds of the people, and bring them to their fullest potential.  Yoga is about mind, body and soul. It’s about the mental and emotional strength, it bonds the physical and emotional together.

I started yoga because I,like everyone else wanted to lose weight.  What I was not ready for; was the journey of self discovery I was about to embark.  I did not fall in love with yoga right away, I fell off the yoga train many times.  That was until I finally took a yoga class at my local college and I met my instructor Ms Lynn.  She was kind and patient and very inspiring.  She taught the traditional philosophy, the reasoning behind each pose, and the importance of full breathing without proper breathing, yoga is not fun nor truly beneficial.  I always left class with the most euphoric high and feeling like I could conquer the world bit by little bit.

Fun Fact:  We only use 20% of our lung capacity,

yoga teaches you to use your entire lung.

Through all my trials and tribulations of life, yoga has been something I can count on daily, whether it be 5 minutes or 2 hours, morning, afternoon, or evening, sad or angry. I know that when done I will feel whole again.  Thus inspiring me to want to be a teacher, helper, assistant, friend, motivator.  I want to motivate everyone to try yoga, not only will you transform your body, but your mind and soul as well.  Yoga is for everyone, mother, daughter, father, son, friend, foe, addict, recovering addict.  Yoga does not discriminate, nor do I, If you want to learn, then I want to teach.

We sometimes get lost in the world and feel as though we have no place to go, but through yoga, you discover, you have been in your place the whole time.  Its you that matters and no one else, you are your own hero, your own king/queen. You are what matters and when you balance yourself, you shine and so does the world around you.

“We must be the change,we wish to see in the World”

-Mahtama Gandhi”-

Mahatama Gandhi was right, we must be that change, and I’m starting by sharing my knowledge of yoga to each and every one of you.  And if I can inspire a small change in one person, then my journey of conquering the world has began.

My wish is to become certified at It’s yoga Thailand.  I’m not entirely sure why I have chosen this particular school, I went through all the schools and they all seem wonderful, however It’s yoga Thailand stuck out the most.  Their information, reviews and the quick and kind correspondence makes me more and more excited everyday to attend. What a better way to learn Ashtanga yoga then in a traditional land.
